Abu Huraira (ra) said,

a man of the Prophet (peace be upon him) came and said to me, hungry. In another narration, I was hungry. He sent people to his wives (in search of food).

They said, "By the oath which has sent you with the truth." We do not have any food other than water. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, who among you, who will be hospitable? Allah will show mercy to him. Then Ansari Sahabi (Abu Talha) said, I will do.

Then he took him with him and went to his wife and said, "Honor the guests of the Messenger of Allah." Do not keep any food. He (the wife) said, By Allah! We have no food except food kept for the children. He said, 'Take your meal preparation, light burn, and your children will sleep when they want to eat dinner. She prepared the food, lit the lamp and slept her children. Then he stood up and put it out of the lamps and put it out.

Then they both showed him as eating food in the dark. The guests played and they both spent the night hungry. المفلحون 'And they prefer themselves over themselves, even if they themselves are in need. Those who are free from the stupidity of their hearts, they are the successful ones.
